Career and Professional Development (CPD) welcomes employers interested in engaging with our students and alumni through a variety of programs and opportunities. Our team is committed to extending top-level service to our employer partners, and to helping you market your organization, company, or industry on our campus.

CPD offers comprehensive services to ensure that you are able to identify, connect with, and interview the best fit candidates for your company. Our professional and knowledgeable staff will work with you to design a customized recruitment strategy that can include on-campus interviewing, information sessions, online job postings, career and internship fairs, and more.

 

  • Post a Job or Internship

    LMU is pleased to invite you to post internship and employment opportunities easily and at no charge through Handshake, our new online database reaching thousands of students and alumni. Creating an account is simple; please consult LMU’s Employer Agreement and Responsibilities prior to posting.

    To Create a Handshake Account

    1. Select the “Employer” tab at https://lmu.joinhandshake.com/register. If your organization is not already registered under an employer account, you will need to create one to proceed.
    2. Please fill in your employer profile with as much data as possible in order to generate a higher amount of student interest.
    3. Remember: When creating your Handshake account, it is important to use your organizational email address, not a personal email address.

    To Post a Job or Internship in Handshake

    1. Log-in to your Handshake account and select the “Job Postings” tab on the left-hand column, and then select the “New Job” tab in the upper-right hand corner.
    2. Jobs need to be approved by Career and Professional Development before they can be seen by students.
    3. For further assistance, we recommend visiting the Handshake Support Portal.
  • On-Campus Recruiting (OCR)

    Loyola Marymount University students and alumni are industry leaders in Southern California and beyond. Our candidates bring a strong academic preparedness to their chosen field, in addition to a sound understanding of workplace ethics. Through participating in On-Campus Recruiting (OCR), employers meet students, recent graduates, and alumni poised to contribute to the success of their organization.

    OCR complements an organization’s recruitment efforts by providing a convenient space, easy scheduling, and general support for recruiters wishing to hold initial screening interviews with students. Full-time positions are generally focused on – and marketed to – graduating seniors, while internship opportunities usually seek candidates who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

    We offer convenient scheduling of interview dates, private interviewing facilities, and effective on-campus publicity for your company.

    • Fall Registration: June 1 (open until booked)
    • Fall Interviews: September – November
    • Spring Registration: December 1 (open until booked)
    • Spring Interviews: January - April

    To Register

    • To register for an OCR in Handshake, follow these steps:
    • Sign in to Handshake or create an account through the Employer Registration process.
    • For more information about posting jobs and internships, see Post a Job or Internship.
    • To schedule interviews, click the “On-Campus Recruiting (OCR)” tab.
    • Under “Schedules”, click “Request a Schedule.”
    • Enter the details of your OCR scheduling requests and click “Submit.”

    Company information, job descriptions, resume submissions and interview schedules are all managed on-line through Handshake. Reservations should be made as early as possible. There is no charge for this program. For more information and to reserve an interview date, please contact our CPD staff at 310.338.2871.

    Employers are encouraged to attend the Career Expo in both the fall and spring to meet candidates in an informal setting.

  • Information Sessions & Programs

    Career and Professional Development welcomes employers to engage with our students on campus through a variety of formal and informal programming throughout the year. 

    Information Sessions

    To promote general opportunities within your organization and help familiarize students with your company’s culture, Info Sessions can be scheduled during fall and spring semesters on campus. Generally, Info Sessions include a presentation by an employer or representative, and allow some time for Q&A.

    Info Sessions may be requested via your LionJobs account:

    1. Log into Handshake. (If you do not already have an account, please register.)
    2. Select “Events” from the menu at the top of the page.
    3. Select the “Information Session” tab on the “Events” page.
    4. Click “Add New”.
    5. Enter and submit details regarding your Info Session request. Choose “Open Information Session” from the “Information Session Type” drop-down menu.
    6. Info Sessions will be approved within one business day.

    Tabling

    Tabling can be a great way to engage with students informally as they cross campus for classes. Tabling promotes opportunities for casual conversation between employers and students, and allows employers the chance to build their brands on campus without advanced marketing.

    Tabling reservations may be requested via your LionJobs account:

    1. Log into Handshake. (If you do not already have an account, please register.)
    2. Select “Events” from the menu at the top of the page.
    3. Select the “Information Session” tab on the “Events” page.
    4. Click “Add New”.
    5. Enter and submit details regarding your Tabling request. Choose “Information Table” from the “Information Session Type” drop-down menu.
    6. Tabling reservation requests will be approved within one business day.

    Employer-Led Workshops

    Employer-Led Workshops are branded content presentations that provide an opportunity for employers and recruiters to present skills and topics to students while promoting their companies. Career and Professional Development staff members will work with you to customize CPD’s professional development presentations, which can be marketed to specific student groups and target populations. Prepare students for the working world while building your pipeline of talent at LMU.

    Employer-Led Workshops may be requested via your Handshake account:

    1. Log in to Handshake
    2. Select “Request an Information Session or Workshop” from the list of quick links on the right side of welcome portal page
    3. Select “Employer-Led Workshop” as the “Information Session Type”, and you will be prompted for more details

    Panels, Site Visits, And Events

    CPD regularly programs additional opportunities for students to engage with employers from all industries through speaker panels, site visits to host companies, employer-facilitated workshops, and other special events throughout the year.   • Career Expo

    Spring 2018 Career Expo

    Thursday, February 22 | Noon - 3 p.m. | University Hall

    Our bi-annual Career Expo draws ambitious Lions from all majors and connects them with employers from many different industries including government, nonprofit, local, startup and worldwide operations. Please join us for this opportunity to meet our talented students and to promote your full-time and internship opportunities.

    Previous registrants have included Apple, AT&T, Belkin, CALTRANS, Enterprise, Fandango, FBI, Honda, The Honest Company, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, LA Clippers, LADWP, Moog Aircraft Group, PlayStation, SAG-AFTRA, Target, TBWA\Chiat\Day, Tesla, UCLA Health, UPS, Wells Fargo, Yelp and more.

    Fees and Payment

    The Career Expo registration fee includes:

    • Registration for two representatives (There is a $25 charge for each additional representative.  No more than four representatives can be accommodated per table.)
    • Complimentary valet parking
    • One 6‐foot rectangular table with linen
    • Boxed lunch
    • Wireless Internet available. Details for connecting to wireless Internet can be found within your welcome packet
    • Access to electrical power is limited.  Please note you must bring your own 25-50 foot power cord, audio visual, and computer equipment if required for your display.
