Do you have questions about career options within your major or program? Are you unsure about when to search for internships or entry-level work? Thinking about changing majors, jobs, or career paths?
LMU’s career coaches support every School and College, as well as a wide range of career interests. Undergraduate and graduate students and alumni can receive personalized coaching tailored to their goals, questions, and next steps.
Meet with a career coach to explore your academic and professional future with confidence.

Visit in-person at Von der Ahe 135 or drop into our Virtual Zoom Lobby (LMU Zoom accounts only) during our Career Coaches’ Office Hours.
Our office is open Monday – Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 pm. This is a great option for more immediate coaching like a last-minute job interview or application deadline.

How to schedule a coaching appointment
- Log into Handshake
- Confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out on your profile and saved (Most important step)
- Click on the “Career Center” menu option at the top of the page
- Click on “Appointments”
- Click on the blue “Schedule Appointment” button
- Select the appropriate Category that best applies to you
- Select your Appointment Type
- Select the time that works for you based on the available appointments
- Choose to meet either In-Person or via Zoom
- Describe how a Coach can best assist you
- Click on the green “Request” button
- You should receive an email from Handshake confirming your appointment

Drop-in advising is designed to help LMU students and alumni connect with a career coach to ask general questions, explore career resources, or get a quick critique of their resume or cover letter.
- During the academic year, drop-in advising is available in-person in Von der Ahe 135, Monday – Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., on the Westchester Campus. No appointment necessary.
- Career Coaches host weekly, open office hours in-person as well as virtually via the Career Services’ Zoom lobby. No appointment necessary.

There are a few ways for alumni to receive coaching. First, you can create an alumni Handshake account by completing and submitting the access form below. After submitting, please allow 2-3 business days for account approval. Once approved, you will gain full access to apply for employment opportunities and schedule appointments with career coaches using the instructions above. For support, please contact careers@lmu.edu.
Second, you can drop-in to office hours hosted by Marcy Hess every Monday from 12:00 – 2 p.m. PST. You are welcome to come into CPD located in VDA 135 or log-on to Marcy’s Zoom between these hours for coaching. Please email marcy.hess@lmu.edu for her Zoom link or with questions.
