Schedule an Appointment with a Career Coach
Do you have general or specific career questions? Are you feeling stuck or unsure? Coaching appointments are where you and a coach can discuss what’s on your mind as you navigate your next steps at LMU and beyond.
Common coaching topics include:
- Career exploration and planning
- Job and internship search strategies
- Interviewing support
- Networking strategies
- Applying to graduate or professional school
- Personal statement review
- Resume and cover letter review

Visit CPD in-person at Von der Ahe 135, or drop into our Virtual Zoom Lobby (LMU Zoom accounts only) during Career Coach Office Hours. Our office is open Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. This is a great option for more immediate support.
Instructions for Booking a Coaching Appointment
- Log in to Handshake
- Confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out on your profile and saved (Most important step)
- Click on the “Career Center” menu option at the top of the page
- Click on “Appointments”
- Click on the blue “Schedule Appointment” button
- Select the appropriate Category that best applies to you
- Select your Appointment Type
- Select the time that works for you based on the available appointments
- Choose to meet either In-Person or via Zoom
- Describe how a Coach can best assist you
- Click on the green “Request” button
- You should receive an email from Handshake confirming your appointment
Drop-in coaching is designed to help LMU students connect with a career coach to ask general career questions, explore career resources, or get a quick critique of their resume or cover letter.
- During the academic year, drop-in advising is available in-person in Von der Ahe 135, Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, on the Westchester Campus. No appointment necessary.
- CPD Career Coaches also offer individual drop-in hours in-person as well as virtually via the Career Services’ Zoom lobby at these hours without an appointment.

There are a few ways for alumni to receive coaching. First, you can create an alumni Handshake account by completing and submitting the access form below. After submitting, please allow 2 – 3 business days for account approval. Once approved, you will gain full access to apply for employment opportunities and schedule appointments with career coaches using the instructions above. For support, please contact careers@lmu.edu.
Second, you can drop-in to office hours hosted by Marcy Hess every Monday from 12 – 2pm PST. You are welcome to come into CPD located in VDA 135 or log-on to Marcy’s Zoom between these hours for coaching. Please email marcy.hess@lmu.edu for her Zoom link or with questions.
