  • Spread the Word

    • Maximize your time on campus at the Graduate School and Health Professions Fair (also known as Grad Fair) by
spreading the word that you will be there. Enlist the help of campus advocates:
    • Book time to meet with faculty or student organizations on campus while you are there.

Make The Most Of Your Time

    • Ensure that your time on campus is well spent by scheduling activities around Grad Fair:
      • Visit Career and Professional Development to discuss student trends and preferences and provide
updates about your institution or program
      • Speak to a student organization

    Engage Students

    • Focus on student needs – often the emphasis on institution branding supersedes communicating with
students about program benefits and culture.
    • Use examples of alumni experiences to show how your institution is unique.
    • Ask their opinions, offer relevant advice, and suggest next steps.
    • Explain the appropriate application procedure. Ensure students understand the value of having met in person
and do not feel dismissed or brushed away.
    • Be prepared to answer questions about other programs within your institution as well as where to refer
      students if necessary.
    • Ask relevant questions related to their college experience (“Are you studying marketing and sales?”) instead
of questions regarding the future that may make them uncomfortable (“What do you want to do when you
graduate?”). Many students are attending Grad Fair as part of their career discernment process, and
may not know which path they want to take after graduation.
    • Give them tips for how to get accepted into your program.
    • Avoid using technology to stay focused on engaging with students.

    Don’t Leave Yet!

    • Things sometimes slow down near the end, but we appreciate you staying until the event is over.
