Who can use Handshake?
All currently registered LMU undergraduate and graduate students and alumni are eligible to utilize Handshake at no cost (Loyola Law School students and alumni do not have access to Handshake). Please confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out to gain full access, this can be found by clicking on your name or initials found in the top right corner.
I’m a student; how do I gain access to Handshake?
LMU undergraduate and graduate students have accounts preloaded in the system. Your Handshake username and password details will be the same as your LMU log-in credentials. You can utilize single-sign-on via MyLMU. You will need to confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out to gain full access, this can be found by clicking on your name or initials found in the top right corner.
I’m an alum; how do I gain access to Handshake?
Alumni that graduated in Fall 2015 or more recently will have pre-populated accounts that they can access with LMU credentials.
Visit Handshake to create an account. After submitting, please allow 2-3 business days for account approval. Once approved, you will gain full access to apply for jobs and make appointments with career coaches. Please confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out to gain full access, this can be found by clicking on your name or initials found in the top right corner.
How do I schedule a career coaching appointment?
- Log in to Handshake
- Confirm your “Career Interests” section is completely filled out; this can be found by clicking on your name, initials, or photo found at the top of the page.
- Click on the “Career Center” dropdown menu
- Click on “Appointments”
- Click on the “Schedule a New Appointment” button
- Select the appropriate category
- Select an appointment type
- Scroll down or select by week to view upcoming available appointments and click on desired appointment
- Add required appointment details
- Click on the green “Request” button to request the career coaching appointment
I need to update my profile. My class year (or other information) is incorrect; how can I change it?
Pre-populated information in Handshake is updated regularly for currently enrolled students from your Prowl account, which is controlled by the Registrar’s Office. Any changes to your information must be requested through the Registrar’s Office.
FAQs for Employers
We received an email saying that we have switched from LionJobs to Handshake; can I move my account information over?
If you were an active user in our previous system, then your account information has been transferred to Handshake; you would have received an invitation email between June 13 and June 20, 2017 to log in and claim the account. If you are having trouble locating this email, please contact Poulomi Chatterjee at Poulomi.firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.

How should I use Handshake?
On Handshake, employers will be able to register for career expos, on-campus recruiting as well as tabling and information sessions.
Why hasn’t my employer account been approved yet?
Our transition to the new system began in Summer 2017 and we are excited by the number of employers who want to be connected to LMU students and alumni. We anticipate that we will approve all employers in the backlog by the end of August 2017. Beginning in September, please allow 2-3 business days for your account to be approved by our office. Please note that University holidays may affect this time frame. Thank you for your interest and patience.
