On-Campus Work – International Students
I want to work on campus…What should I know about on-campus employment?
International students enrolled at LMU are allowed to work on-campus in the United States. International students must connect with OISS to begin the On Campus Employment Request Form in MyStatus and SSN application process. Student Employment Services can assist with the hiring process of the student in Workday as well as any onboarding tasks.
For information regarding eligibility and authorization, contact the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) at 310.338.2937 or oiss@lmu.edu. OISS is located in Malone Student Center, Suite 201. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Non-Work Study (NWS) On Campus Jobs
J-1 & F-1 students are not eligible for Federal Work Study aid, and therefore, cannot be employed under Work Study positions. However, international students are eligible for Transfer work (T-work).
Non-Work Study is not a Financial Aid award, and it is funded independently by a campus department’s budget. This form of funding allows on-campus work for student that did not receive work study. You may search for non-work study jobs on Workday or contact your LMU employer to ask if they offer this additional funding.

Finalize Employment
Once an offer for on-campus employment is received, the student must work with OISS and SES to prepare the necessary employment authorization and documentation such as a Social Security Number, Form I-9, and tax documents.

Questions regarding on-campus jobs and Non-Work Study should be directed to Student Employment Services (SES), they can be reached at 310.338.7606 or ses@lmu.edu. SES is located in Malone, Suite 355. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students can drop-in with an international peer advisor or schedule a coaching appointment via Handshake with CPD’s international student specialist, to get assistance with locating on-campus employment.
